Dr. David Rearick
Vice-President, Medical Management

Dr. Rearick joined SBS as Medical Director, bringing years of medical and insurance industry knowledge to bear for our clients, their employees and their families. His focus is on providing SBS clients with long-term health enhancement strategies to control health costs and improve productivity. Using medical/pharmacy claim analysis and predictive modeling he identifies medical management services clients need, advises on data-driven value-based benefit design strategies, and monitors the success of all health and wellness vendor activities, illustrating the value of these investments.
Prior to SBS, Dr. Rearick was on the insurance/payer side of healthcare serving as Aetna’s medical director responsible for the quality monitoring, credentialing, and provider relations of over 7,000 providers in Aetna’s PPO/HMO products. He was also instrumental in monitoring quality and taking the Plan through NCQA accreditation. As the Chief Medical Officer for a national healthcare cost containment company, he further broadened his knowledge of the healthcare industry to include bill review, out-of-network negotiation, TPA services, and contracting while serving in several business development and executive roles.
Rearick practiced medicine in East Cobb for twenty years, before obtaining an MBA from Emory in 1991. He helped organize the Southeast’s largest primary care group practice to meet the challenges of evolving managed care, decreasing provider reimbursements, and increased productivity requirements.
He continues to make contributions to the healthcare industry, now focusing on managing populations rather than individuals. His books include Good Health Is Good Business-an Implementation Guide for Corporate Wellness, (www.GHIGB.com) and The WellFit Starter Module, a complete beginning wellness program tool box. He lectures frequently on wellness and population health management topics. He also serves as medical director to the 28 firms in the Benefit Advisors Network.
In addition to an MBA from Emory University, Rearick holds a medical degree from Midwestern University, Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine.
